Firefighter Training
Firefighters are required to complete two hours of job-specific training during each 24-hour shift. Some training we do on our own, some is done in conjunction with cooperating agencies. Training activities often include:
- Emergency medical scenarios (Basic Life Support & Advanced Life Support)
- Rescue Drills: Auto Extrication; Swiftwater; Confined Space; High and Low Angle Rescue
- Skills Sessions: SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus); Rope/Rescue Systems; Ladders; Progressive Hoselays
- Fire Readiness Exercises (wildland fire operations)
- Live-fire training (structure fire operations)
- EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course)
- EMT continuing education
- Hazardous Materials
- Incident Management (Incident Command System)
- Fire Investigation and Fire Prevention Codes & Ordinances Updates
