Board of Directors
Our district is governed by a 5-member board of directors who are elected to serve by the people.
Board Member Responsibility
The Board of Directors has the responsibility to establish policies and guidelines for the Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District that may exceed County ordinances.
The Board meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. Meetings are held in the Board Community Room located at 18027 Calle Ambiente (Administrative Offices). The publicly-elected members serve 4-year terms and elections are held in conjunction with County general elections.
The general powers and duties of the Board of Directors include, but are not limited to: adopting fire prevention codes and ordinances, acquiring equipment, appoint necessary employees and define their qualifications and duties, mutual aid agreements, building standards, fire and panic safety, fire sprinklers, hazard correction or elimination, weed abatement, contracts for services, and entering joint powers agreements (such as North County Dispatch Joint Powers Agency). In addition, the Board has fiduciary responsibility to provide financial oversight of the District.
